There are myriad styles of the Art of Stick Fighting that have evolved up to this time. Balintawak Eskrima was the inception of the Great Grandmaster Anciong Bacon of the Philippines in the 1940s. Although small in stature, Anciong Bacon was feared for his unique style of stick fighting.  He developed his techniques with the utmost economy of motion and void of any fancy ineffective moves. Balintawak Eskrima's techniques are practiced with precision and accuracy and with its direct approach and explosive application to stick fighting; it is more regarded as a Combat Art.

Today, Grandmaster Bobby Taboada has introduced the Art of Balintawak Eskrima to the World from the Philippines to New Zealand, Australia, United States, Canada, England, and Germany. He is one of the major sources of the Art through his Balintawak International Association based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Grandmaster Jorge V. Penafiel is founder of Arnis-Karate Putakti System and the Cincinnati Balintawak Club.  This May 2005, he was promoted to 10'th Dan Rank by the US Kali Association for his dedication and contributions to the Martial Arts Community specifically the Filipino Martial Arts and as recipient of numerous Martial Arts Hall of Fame and Prestigious Honors.
"Be Yourself and Set an Example to People and your Arts" are words of wisdom from Grandmaster Bobby Taboada he says served as the Personal Inspiration and Motivation to move on and achieved his Life's Goal.
